Internet and Web

5 stars movement in Italy, piazza in Spain, war in Africa

In Spain, since several days thousands of young “indignados” came together and sleep in the streets protesting the economic and social situation prevailing in the country.

North Africa is in full revolution.

In Greece, after weeks of chaos is now reigning a kind of unreal peace, partly dictated by the resignation, probably is calm before the storm.

Facing such indebtedness, facing social policies that can not afford more cuts, facing a predatory economy whose only and last purpose is money, facing a political class of inept and incompetent whose only interests are power and privileges, the path traced by our grandparents and democracy is at stake.
If Europe wants to exist, beyond geography, must solve problems of enormous gravity, which will soon burst Euro.
The values and strength of Nations are compromised in a clear rejection of the famous “social pact”.

A whole generation is cut off from society, a… Continue reading

Nemesis

Google announced yesterday that it changed the formula by which ranks the search results.
The aim is to reward the sites that publish original and high quality information and punish those who create unnecessary content or copied only to climb the search locations.
The evil are the so-called “content farm” sites that fill the web with thousands of pages per day, perfectly designed to reach top positions in research.
These sites offer poorly developed information and often have recycled content from other sites with automated procedures of copying.
Begun in January Google has started this campaign to improve the quality of its results.
I’m wondering how can an algorithm decide what is good content and what is bad content, how can an algorithm decide and see clearly trough the complexity of a website.

The big G has already digest all the other search engine so if your website is not… Continue reading

Nobel price to Liu Xiaobo and forbidden restaurants

Hi there…

Today we have a good and a bad news both related to Liu Xiaobo, Nobel price for peace 2010.

The United States congress finally approved a resolution calling for the release of Liu Xiaobo, dissident in China. With 402 votes against one the resolution “welcomed the Nobel price to Liu” and “honored his efforts to promote democratic reforms in China.

At the same time, 18 seats will be empty during the ceremony of the Nobel Prize because 18 countries linked to China boycott the decision and then the ceremony.

While small group of Chinese gathered near the Chinese embassy in Oslo, the arrogant and shameful answer of China has already followed: “China expresses its strong opposition, and urge U.S. congress men involved, to change their attitude and to show due respect to the Chinese people and the sovereignty of the Chinese law.”Chinese diplomacy has insisted: “Any attempt to put pressure on China is… Continue reading

Julian Assange arrested and the net strike back

The fight is over?  Maybe.
The founder of Wikileaks presented himself this morning to the British police in London and was arrested. Against him thereis an international warrant for a rape, in Sweden, two women.
Probably is a bulshit, I bet on that, we will see. Assange’s lawyer always denied the accusation while dealing the surrender of his client.
The arrest of Assange is an attack on press freedom and will not alter plans for the diffusion of new documents, immediately said spokesman Kristinn Hrafnsson of WikiLeaks.

Already a network of hackers organized a cyber attack against PayPal and Postfinance, which stopped funding WikiLeaks site.  The two companies have not confirmed the news yet.

While the revelations that emerged from the dispatches of the site reserved for U.S. diplomacy continues to fuel fierce controversy, a group of intellectuals, including Noam Chomsky, has signed a letter in favor of Assange.
They… Continue reading

What exactly Wikileaks is?

Only five people employed full time, a budget of just $ 200,000 a year, the site wikileaks.org appears in 2006. It presents itself as “founded by Chinese dissidents, journalists, mathematicians, entrepreneurs”. The stated purpose is to disseminate confidential information on authoritarian regimes in Asia and Africa.
The name is composed of wiki, refer to the online encyclopedia written in common and open to the cooperation of everyone, and leaks, the mole that provides the documents.

Since 2007, the public face of WikiLeaks is Julian Assange, Australian, born in 1971.
The Global network has its headquarter in Stockholm the philosophy is collaboration and anonymity.
Any person may submit a file on the site, which will then be screened by the staff and eventually published.
The pattern is the same as the Pentagon Papers that in 1971 showed the true face of war in Vietnam and hastened the end.

Stockholm in Sweden… Continue reading

Condemned three managers of Google accused of defamation

The Court of Milan in Italy has condemned three managers of Google accused of defamation and not respect of privacy because in 2006 they have not prevented the publication on Google of a video where four students from a technical institute insulted and beaten a guy affected by down’s syndrome.

In particular the court sentenced to six months in prison two managers and the former President of the Board of Google Italy. The three were sentenced for the head of imputation of violation of privacy but not for the head of imputation of defamation.

Just to set some schedule time… the video with the harassment to they guy affected by down’s syndrome was shot by the four students in May 2006, then loaded on Google video on 8 September, where with a huge amount of clicks it remained in the top section until 7 November.

The centre of this process… Continue reading

W3C validation value

I’m really surprised that professional people like many websmasters do not understand fully the point.

The point IS NOT if search engines care W3C validation or if customers care W3C validation (they have probably no idea).

Maybe webmasters are too much focused in the job in the profession and into please customers… this is legit of course… but we all sometimes forget that at stake there is also Internet and technology development to be considered for the future. We all care in the immediate in the short period of time of the small thing of the detail of the result but not of the WHOLE PICTURES.

W3C (word wide web consortium) exist since years but regretfully few people see there the huge value in W3C

Internet should be a better place for everyone starting from  WEBSMASTERS that always complain about website with strange behaviors, about layout that do not look same in… Continue reading

China versus Google

Hi there… has been a while I have not posted…  but something interesting is happening.

I have not been a fan of the big G and I do not like their dictatorship all over Internet but now they have really the occasion to make a good move.

I can reconsider my personal opinion  on the big G policy if they will close to Chinese government request also if  this mean close the business in China.

Money is not all,  profit is not all, business is not all….  human rights are far more important and  this is the way thing can really change.

This finally will pay !

Look at the interesting video I have collected for you…

Internet freedom, licenses and unchecked email address

To avoid misunderstanding let me say first of all that Internet is free and must be free forever…  also I think that from now on the net must seriously auto regulate itself to avoid big problems in the near future.
I’m reading and thinking a lot about the freedom and democracy on the net, here in Italy (as probably someone of you know) we got quite an issue on that when after someone in Milan breaking security punched with a souvenir our prime minister face.
Immediately through social networks tons of groups was formed pro/against the fact and pro/against who did it.
Now some politician wants close groups and social networks… or similar idiocy… the debate is wide open.  Beside this local issue also in the international scenarios freedom and Internet are very intimately connected as you see in Iran’s daily news.
I’m also reading and thinking a lot about… Continue reading

Buyers power, then DO NOT BUY IT

Actually everything is correlated to everything,  nowadays  commercials are correlated to every single aspect of our lives. I decided that enough is enough and I felt that starting from now I need to push and force the situation.

We all must understand the fact and the issue,  so first of all I will try to explain few points,  really simple points.  Then we must  understand the real consequences the unbelievable waste of  resources producing all but nothing. Finally what we need to do is one thing only, because a simple coordinated action is POWER and things CAN CHANGE in few minutes with one single action:  DO NOT BUY IT

Every single day, like you, I’m getting bored and exhausted looking commercials 24/7 all around us,  all around our beautiful world and cities,  the messages are bombarding us 24/7 without even asking for permission. I open TV and each few minutes… Continue reading
