In seven years, more than a million of USA soldiers have rotated themselves in Iraq, now they are leaving.
Without a greeting, without a goodbye, they are now living, and Iraqis people probably don’t know if to be satisfied or concerned about the departure of American troops.
When the USA soldiers ten years ago entered in Baghdad just conquered there was no fight… there were only hundreds of children who are keen to put to secure their loot: refrigerators, cabinets, fans, chairs, mattresses, just stolen in the ministries, in hospitals, in the police stations, in the barracks abandoned.
Those boys was not frighten probably they not even looked at soldiers avant-garde in the labyrinth of Baghdad. There were no more police officers and Iraqi soldiers nearby.
The war appeared concluded, won, actually was just the beginning.

Click here to view the embedded video.

I remember well those times, I was in Thailand and my new life there just started in February 2003, then the war in March 2003 comes over.
I was sure at that time that there was no way out, I was really sure as hell and I can swore on it that another Vietnam was on the way. It was, it is.
The differences between Vietnam War and Iraq War are huge. First of all Vietnamese people was a defined strong united people that had no chance fight to win or die fighting.
There was a regime of course there was a military organization, a government, real soldiers, real officers, a real State going to get full independence and own life or die.
Vietnamese people kick the ass of Frances first, then Japanese, then to Americans. Finally was them to make Cambodia free from the Khmer Rouge nightmare.
In Iraq what we can see is just a bunch of Muslim of different tribes fighting each other for power and fighting the foreigner enemies. Seven years ago killing Saddam was like to open Pandora’s box.
Now there is nothing possible to do, just let them be and fins their own equilibrium, but this was clear to me already years ago, and I’m no one. Of course this equilibrium will cost many lives.
The great, invincible, and powerful army is now living, and there is nothing so crazy like March 1975 in Saigon.
Now we are in the era of asymmetric conflicts, where no one wins and no one loses, this is amazing! Wars today are conceived to last as long as possible, not to be win

Click here to view the embedded video.

The adventure in which has been committed by the political power is revealed in this case bankruptcy, and no one will pay. Bush is now gone, Blair also and in Italy we still have as PM that man that lead Italians soldiers to die for nothing. No one is in jail as they all should be. I will never forget that Americans, bombed a neutral country that had not declared war to them, that had not shoot to them.
People were just there without any fault when USA airplanes come to destroy the country. The bullshit mass destruction army was just that, just bullshit.
It is a regret dictated by anger or fear, the classical “it was better when it was worse” that should not be interpreted in the letter. The country has collapsed and now is their own business, their problem, a huge problem, that they must solve themselves. In the population no one has addressed a grateful greeting to the soldiers in departure, which have led to a bit of democracy. The value of democracy is much less then safety of course.

Nothing can be compared to 60,000 USA soldiers died in Vietnam but here over 4,000 boys lost their life. For what? More then 100,000 Iraqis are dead, probably the double, who will never know about.
The vast majority of the Iraqis did not have any contact directly with the Americans; this also explains the coldness for their departure. They had seen them in their suits, hidden behind dark lenses, with the weapons in hand, running fast on board of armored vehicles. It was nothing like Naples after the Second World War like ‘GI, GI dammi la cioccolata!’ that sound like ‘GI, GI give me a chocolate!’
No one ever come across a American military isolated, and even less unarmed, in a street in Baghdad. And even less in a coffee in the company of a woman or of an autochthonous friend.
Nothing again like Vietnam nothing like the brothels in Saigon or the many American-Vietnamese couple that now are living in USA.
The risk of being threatened by a terrorist, killed, kidnapped, moved the USA army to engage a huge number of persons in services or like traders. A small number of Iraqis, civilians used in military bases, or around them, they were and are foreigners: if not Americans, from the emerging countries: from Philippines to India, from Latin America to Europe.
Basically a war fought inside a miraculous bubble of organization with an enormous cost in terms of money but as we all know… money is just paper to die for!
Between 24 hours from now will remain only fifty thousand, not more officially “combatants”, but “advisers”.
With them remains Baghdad a capital with kilometers of walls of reinforced concrete, behind which are barred ministries, barracks, hotels, private homes, whole neighborhoods. The centre of the metropolis the famous green areas, cities in the city where are locked up VIP political and diplomatic representations; first of all the United States. Their safe, armor-plated, and US outside, vehicle exposed to all the pitfalls. It is inevitable of course, but does not raise any sympathy. Outside there are burst roads, wet garbage, suicide bombers.
The withdrawal of troops calms the national pride, but adds the anguish for the security, and also the lack of confidence in the national authorities, which has not even able to ensure water and electricity. Just 24 hours and there will be not anymore the enemy and someone to give fault of anything going wrong.
Teheran probably will fill the vacuum left by the Americans and push the parties Shiites to sour the hostility towards Sunnis.
Another failure for all mankind, not just USA but also for Italy got involved in this craziness. History will never cease to repeat itself, humans will never cease to be humans.

Click here to view the embedded video.

It is just the beginning again.
Do you remember the famous marvelous movie ‘2001 a space odyssey’ by Stanley Kubrick.
Do you remember the initial sequence when a bounce of monkeys-humans are fighting each other for water and food?
We are just there; we have not made a single step forward in the path of evolution.

Obama finally has put his signature on the reform of finance and said that “We think about the people not to large banks” the Regulation is today a real Law, a triumph for the President.
He clearly stated that “No one will pay more for Wall Street”.

A package of measures that will result in the more financial protections in history with a new authority which will have a single task: the objective will be to protect the people, not the big banks, not the companies of loans, not the houses of investments.
This is not only good only for the people, is good also for the economy, as Obama has recognized, the financial industry is the core for growth and prosperity of a country, the reform will help to give to all the same rules, to encourage competition in prices and quality, not tricks and traps.

The supervision must be careful Americans must make adjustments along the road while the financial system is adjusting itself to the changes. Who has no intention to deceive but wants to act honestly has no reason to be afraid of the law. Is a must to avoid situations in which a company is too big to fail.

In the last two years the most severe recession after the great depression has created unemployment and forced companies to close. Even if the economy has picked up, too many people are still living in pain.

To emphasize that the law is intended to protect the people Obama has not invited to the signature ceremony to the White House the directors of large banks.

The President was flanked by two new homeless: a veteran of Vietnam, Andrew Giordano, and a teacher of Middle School in Georgia, Robin Fox.
Giordano was finished on to the streets after a bank had applied to his savings account fines for a service he had not requested; Robin Fox saw doubled retroactively the interest on a credit card while having paid regularly.

The States retained the right to coin money, for centuries the coins have been made in real metal and their value was always linked to the price of the metal of which have been made of.
The trick of issuing a currency that contains a number of precious metals minor then the one indicated was generally discovered immediately by merchants.
If the test found out a minor quantity of metal, the price of the good that they were going to sell increased in proportion.
There is no way to determine the intrinsic value of a good but that we can always determine the price.
On the contrary, the value cannot swing by definition, because when we talk of values we are always refer to an absolute.
With the fake money of paper, the power of the financial system has increased beyond limits, becoming huge, but at the same time this giant shows fully today its heaviness and fragility.
As long as between the money of paper and the goods has been maintained some correspondence, in fact, the process of growth of the weight of the financial world in economy was limited to the speed of capital accumulation.
As long as between the money of paper and the goods has been maintained some correspondence, in fact, the process of growth of the weight of the financial world in economy was limited to the speed of capital accumulation.

Click here to view the embedded video.

In fact, its development depends on the growth of the economic system, which by the effect of invasion of finance, sees progressively to reduce the means necessary to its development.
The breaking of the hard link between the emissions of money and the economic value of them has determined uncontrolled huge growth of the financial system that we are facing today.
Nowadays the trade of real goods and the real economy is just a fraction of the financial trade activities.
Let’s say that Mr. Smith want to open a business and ask a loan of 10.000 euro to a bank because of course without money Mr. Smith can not do anything.
The bank, by granting this loan, has not provided its own riches at all, but has simply increased the mass of circulating euro of 10.000 units.
In the face of the money that was given to Mr. Smith there is nothing but the wealth that the same Mr. Smith will produce if the activity will be successful.
In other words, asking a loan for a business we pay to the banks the right to work!
If the company financed has good end and is able to produce wealth, and pay the debt everything is fine otherwise the monetary mass created from nothing remains without justification and ends up in inflation.
The bank has not wasted it, is just someone else problem.
The moments of economic crisis, is often accompanied by inflation, the system, however, seems to ensure elasticity in the creation of monetary mass.
The problem is that the growth of the economic system is always accompanied a growth of total debt of the system.
This is what happening in Japan since 10 years with a debt that represents 140% of GDP interest rates next to zero and no more possibility to increase taxes.
It leads to a crisis without end of the economy, alternating years of stagnation to others of economic decline
More perverse effect of economy of the debt is that real power on the society is delegated to the banks and financial institutions that decide the fate of households, businesses and States.
Politic becomes more and more a farcical representation voided of any real content, having lost all contact with the effective power held by banks and financial institutions.
Probably many of us forget than in ancient times people ended up in prison for debts. The creditor was entitled to use this power, until the debtor became a slave. The old fellows were aware that the debt always tends to expand! And therefore, with the passing of time, a growing number of citizens were in trouble. For this reason periodically measures like the so called ‘Jubilee’ were issued for the remission of debts.Very rarely happened to a State to have debts usually happened in case of special events or in the need to finance a wars. This meant that private donors were ultimately connected to the destiny of the governments and the nations. The States retained the right to coin money, for centuries the coins have been made in real metal and their value was always linked to the price of the metal of which have been made of.The trick of issuing a currency that contains a number of precious metals minor then the one indicated was generally discovered immediately by merchants. If the test found out a minor quantity of metal, the price of the good that they were going to sell increased in proportion. There is no way to determine the intrinsic value of a good but that we can always determine the price. On the contrary, the value cannot swing by definition, because when we talk of values we are always refer to an absolute.

We know that the banking system creates money from nothing, doing nothing, and there is no wealth in that. That money in the form of a loan represents the wealth that will be created by those to who money is given.
This mechanism has particularly perverse consequences and is really heavy for the entire economic and financial system.

We know that we need a sum of money given accordingly to the level of trade of economic society. Only practice can say how much and the correctness of this amount of money.
Excess liquidity in a system produces inflation, or a reduction of the capacity to purchase of the money.
Lack of liquidity in the system produces deflation, or an increase of the ability to purchase of the money.

The consequences are understandable intuitively. If people have more money than is necessary to buy all the goods in circulation, these will cost more, because there will be a greater demand for goods, while if the money is less of the total of goods in circulation these will cost less, as will reduce their demand.
It is not that hard and complicated isn’t it?

Click here to view the embedded video.

As long as the money was a product (like gold or silver) to the increased need of money (like gold or silver) other goods were used instead of money.

There was a sort of buffering between goods. In the USA during the time of the great inflation that followed the war of independence, was used tobacco as goods of exchange instead of money.
All excess or lacks of money were supported and compensated automatically by the system… but as I said this was true as long as money was real money as long as money was not just paper but a real good.
The situation has changed radically since the money of paper has replaced the real money, since then the issue of new monetary instruments have been done practically only with the creation of new debt. This creation was delegated by States to the banking system.
In this way not only the banking system is remunerated by means of the rate of interest, but also is able to exercise, through the debt, pressure intolerable in respect of citizens, businesses and even States.

In other words, by means of this mechanism, the debt has become an instrument of mass power, while first was an instrument of individual power.
Probably many of us forget than in ancient times people ended up in prison for debts.
The creditor was entitled to use this power, until the debtor became a slave.
The old fellows were aware that the debt always tends to expand! And therefore, with the passing of time, a growing number of citizens were in trouble.
For this reason periodically measures like the so called ‘Jubilee’ were issued for the remission of debts.

Very rarely happened to a State to have debts usually happened in case of special events or in the need to finance a wars. This meant that private donors were ultimately connected to the destiny of the governments and the nations.

In 1944, with the Bretton Woods agreements, was established a new world and a new value of the coins in relation to each other.
Basically was decided that all the coins were convertible in dollar, to a fixed rate, and only the dollar could be converted into gold, and only by the States.
With the prohibition of conversion, the citizens had lost the opportunity to hold wealth through gold ingots. This was the beginning of the end of capitalism and of the economic crisis as we are facing today.

The share of conversion, for example how many Pesetas or Pounds needed to buy a dollar, was issued by the States, but in fact imposed by the International Monetary Fund established in the agreement.
The World Bank, also established with the Bretton Woods agreements, had the precise purpose of regulate the exchange rate buying and selling currency.
In other words 1944 have been created two instruments for the complete political control of all states members of the world because the impossibility from a single State to agree or comply to the requests from the two world financial institutions would have certainly lead to the financial strangulation of the State itself.
We must underline that USA since the beginning have controlled the two world financial institutions with their men and money.
Then the world was divided into two blocs, and these rules were applicable only to the Western bloc and to the members in South America, Africa and Asia that were not politically controlled by any of the two sides.

Born in this way, the economy of the debt transferred gradually the power from the States (also from the legitimate democratic vote) to banks and financial institutions that no one have elected or voted.
In theory are always the States to hold the right and the power to issue banknotes. All banknotes, including euro, are issued only by the central banks of the euro zone States, in proportion to the reserves held by the same banks.
This is the main point, the world ‘’proportion’’ is the whole point. In reality, the reserves held by banks are minimum and risible fraction of the banknotes circulating.
Few decades ago and for all last century the banknotes circulating was just a 5 times more the gold banks reserves.
The money circulating in Italy today is about a 26 time more of the total Italian bank deposits. For sure Italy is not the worst scenario as traditionally Italian families have a strong solid economic habit and background of saving buying houses and properties and not playing with financial instruments.

No guys, regretfully is not all, beside the banknotes if we consider also all the financial instruments moving we discover that the total banknotes issued by the central banks of the States are less the hundredth.
In fact, all the money necessary for the functioning of the economy is issued by banks in form of loans, in this way it generates debt for people, businesses and also states.
In the same way and with the same operation on the opposite side it generates credits for the banking system.

All this has been made more simple and clear after 15 August, 1971.

This is a date, that no one recalls in particular, if not for the heat that usually makes mid August, but instead 15 august, 1971 marks a epical change into the financial economy.
I was not even born, as I come up in this world on 5 October 1971, but that day, the United States, pressed for a few months from the requests for conversion coming from several European States, pressed by the need to pay in gold the Arabic oil, they decided unilaterally to repeal the Bretton Woods agreements regarding the possibility to convert dollars in 18k.

The member of the world, at that time, had huge reserves not anymore in gold but in dollars, so they had no choice but to accept the illusion to have in their coffers what was believed to have instead of waste paper.
The decision was supported by all the central banks of the Western countries, and that the link with the IMF and the World Bank, in fact became inseparable.

Since only the IMF was able to support the course of a currency without the need and the trouble of a richness tangible as gold or silver; and since it was not possible for States members to create other currencies in form of banknotes, (worth devastating inflation as which followed in the 1970) the system that was actually adopted to adapt the money supply to the level of trade was to create debt.
Back at that time started the dizzying growth of the public debt of all the western states of the world, and the corresponding increase in tax required to find the amounts intended to pay the interest on that debt.

The money now dominates every aspect of society, never as in our time the guarantee of survival of a man is only by money.
Until a few tens of years ago, in the western world the majority of the population was able to survive without money, since a peasant family could always take care of a small piece of land and livestock and grow something.
Sure was not easy and there was tons of difficulties and problems but they were allowed to take care themselves. And they did, especially in Italy where many were peasants since generations; Mother Nature was there for that!
The money, also if available, was used only in special occasion for special needs.

The new economy based on debts and not on real richness, has given a lot of power to economical institution and financial institution without any system of democratic political control.

For millennia the money was a product as another: in general were used precious metals like gold, silver, copper, iron, which were used to make pots or swords. Other peoples may have considered much more valuable shells, or tobacco, or salt.

In any case, MONEY, was always a thing, a material thing, something real to be used for something and Gold and Silver were precious (worldwide) for the scarcity and the beauty.
Everything was quite clear in the system isn’t it?
It start to become more abstract just in 1700 when new Banks (that guaranteed the safety of gold or silver deposited with them) began to issue certificates, NOTES, that since then are called banknotes.

Instead of lead the gold or silver necessary to make the payments, was sufficient the certificate issued by the Bank.
The bill, the note, was guaranteed by a Nation or by a Crown, and not by a private subject.
From money as goods to money of paper, it was the first step to the financial nightmare we are facing today.
However, even if was represented by a piece of paper (as we all must consider the banknotes) there was always a certain correspondence between the goods described in banknote and those submitted to the Bank or to the Prince.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Here it started the gap, the bankers realized that all the depositors operated continuously on their own accounts and so A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF THE TOTAL OF THE SUMS deposited remained at their coffers.
Therefore was possible to OPERATE WITH THAT PART lending money to third parties collecting interest; of course always taking into account a reserve to allow depositors to continue to operate.
In other words, through this mechanism banks began to create money because the total of banknotes in circulation was more of the total of gold and other real precious metals deposited in their coffers.
Holding a reserve of just 20% of the deposits banks was able to multiply by five the money deposited in their coffers.

Of course the game works only if all depositors all together do not ask for the return of their deposits in gold, something that happened often in times of economic crisis and that was the reason of the failure of many Banks, until it was prohibited by law after the 1929 crisis and the subsequent failure to about half of the banks in the world.
It was the beginning of the biggest and legal Ponzi’s scheme worldwide.

The Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjajiva said today that “calm and return to normality” prevailing in the country and announced the reopening of roads and schools from tomorrow in Bangkok.
The city has been theater since weeks of violent clashes between the demonstrators and the forces of order.
Everything is calm and back to normality said Abhisit Vejjajiva in his weekly message to the nation, sent this morning in TV.
The Head of Government has announced that the services of municipals of Bangkok continue to clean and reset the occupied zone for weeks by demonstrators anti, chased Wednesday by the army from the centre commercial and tourism in the city.
The rest will return to normality tomorrow
The government agencies and schools reopen in the capital, the curfew in force in Bangkok and in several provinces of Thailand will be extended to other two days.
The measure will be imposed even today and tomorrow, the curfew was imposed last Wednesday in the capital of Thailand, shocked at the most violent civil war of modern history of the country, in which 54 people died and more than 400 were injured.

This is the news, but which is the reality?

I have been in Thailand so many years and now I’m sad watching the Tv screen looking at so peaceful people killing each other.
Thailand now is really sick, this for sure, and its sickness has been called democracy; the country has been on verge of civil war.
Finally the sickness was not solved, is like an infection, the army gave a strong cure and 54 people died . At the moment the fever is down but the patient for sure is not on the way of wellness.

The government was not elected and also in case of an election whoever wins will face with a huge portion of the country against the government.
The difference between parts of population are now huge, the information spread easily reporting the real fact and also the manipulations.

Probably no one have the cure, Thai people without their King is lost, somehow is like a baby without parents. I hope Thailand will grow stronger as is a marvelous country with marvelous people.

Globalization brought the worst also in Thailand that entered in the real modern world loosing its virginity.

Thailand is dead! Long live Thailand.

I was in the land of smile in 2006 during the beginning of this endless story, during the military coup d’etat, while in the night tank rose in Bangkok and stopped in front of parliament.
The prime minister was exiled.
I was living in ChiangMai since a couple of years and I still remember that morning when I woke up, got my motorbike, and after few roads I saw all around armor-plated vehicles with military checking the main ways and intersections of the town.
The feeling was strange, but there was no violence at all, people were kind with military and a new beginning for Thailand was right there.
At that time I could not forecast what happened yesterday.

19 people were killed and over 800 injured fighting the Thai government; spokesman for the premier Vejjajiva stated that soldiers used rubber bullets while rebels were armed with grenade launchers, hand grenades, bombs.
The Thai government justifies the tough reaction of the army talking about self-defense.
The soldiers would only used bullets of rubber (but in the walls are clearly visible holes of bullets) as rules of engagement stated to firing only in self-defense, denying the use of real bullets.
It is confirmed the budget of 4 dead and 200 injured soldiers.
The government, he added, has meanwhile sort troops to return to their bases, and remained alert for further operations if it is necessary.
But even today entire areas of the capital are in the hands of red shirts and fear new clashes.
Some thousands of rebels again surrounded the headquarters of thaicom, the company from which satellite pass the transmission obscured by the authorities, the suburbs north of Bangkok.
According to the reporter to a local TV, there were incidents with the police forces deployed in the defense of the complex, Theatre of violent already Friday.
Meanwhile at least four soldiers are held hostage by red shirts. While Bangkok counts the victims of what has been renamed “bloody Saturday”, in the capital are partially resumed racing of underground raised sky train, suspended Saturday 4 stations of the centre, in the area occupied by protesters, are still closed.

Here we are, this issue definitely can not pass with indifference in my blog.
I have said nothing regarding the nuclear issue and the Obama’s insane decision to go on that way, but this new one can not pass.

Obama hopes to collect money selling licenses to drill petrol and to gain consent for the package-climate, soon to vote in the Senate, the America will revert to find oil in its seas, will revert to use Nuclear.

Is this the green revolution Obama promised?
Is this the down of a new Era?
Come on!

Barack Obama announced the end of a moratorium survived for twenty-year, not even George W. Bush was able to go on with this idiocy.
From Delaware until the coasts Central of Florida, saving the mythical ”Keys”, the US shall grant freedom of drills.
Luckily he avoids devastating the jewel of Bristol Bay, but it will effect even in the north of Alaska, as preached in his election campaign adversary Sarah Palin when she was saying ”drill baby drill”.

Let’s underline that I’m Italian and nothing have to do with politic issues in America, so I do not post on this blog about US health care system of course. We have in Italy enough troubles related to our politic and politicians.

Environment is not just a national issue it effects the whole planet, and the planet belongs to all of us.
This is the reason why I’m writing.
If I were American I would be ashamed to have such president that got the votes promising a green revolution and now repay electors with such money back: new nuclear power plants, new drilling projects.
Good move!

What happens?
It is a nightmare?
Where are you former vice president All Gore?

Obama illustrates his plan from a base of Air Force, probably to underline the strategic value of the turning point in the “war” to dependence on energy. This poor argument led to more than a disappointment among environmentalists.
The excuse from the American President is “to support economic growth, produce work and maintain our competitiveness we need to have recourse to the sources of energy traditional even while we intensify the use of new renewable sources”.
Others ways are possible; others solutions are possible, other investment make much more sense the petrol and nuclear.

In Washington there is also the political significance of the choice, the Senate in the weeks must give its opinion on that package-climate that has already lost the innovative strength of the law the chamber passed. Many Republicans criticize this plan of ‘energy security’ as USA has 20% of world consumption and drilling would not be enough.
Are they insane?
The unique way is to lower that 20% beside I agree that America should be free from the dependence of the old fuels but this must be achieved using new ways, investing in new sectors developing alternatives… it is possible.

The deposits ensure the experts; will continue to be provided to a safe distance, also “visual”, from the beaches. Basically like hiding the rubbish under the carpet, I can not see it so it does not exist.

Day by day I understand why we are tadily aligned to a mass extinction as nothing else deserved.

I know I’m late but also this year I could not stop myself to thing about something and to pay respect to the victims.
42 years ago on 16 March I was not even born, my mother was just a teenager, in Italy we thought to understand all about the new amazing world leaded by US going to bring the men to the moon few months later.
The cold war was at its best, but was not cold on the other side of the planet.
In a remote village of Vietnam William Calley guided the company “C” to the massacre of an entire Vietnamese village to increase the “Body count”
Women was raped and shot, children were killed by the bayonet, and the elder was consumed by flamethrower while embracing the babies trying to protect them.

The leaders and responsibles, thanks to Nixon, just got sentenced 2 years of jail changed later in few months.
41 years after he admitted that was a massacre and nothing else, it was never established how many human beings were killed, because in the tropical jungle.

I just want remember that massacre, one of many of course, because men will be always men, it help me to understand why we are tadily aligned to a mass extinction as nothing else deserved.
