Noli’s colors

Noli is a lovely and small medieval town situated in Liguria about 50 km from Genoa, Italy.
The picturesque town has interesting sights such as the remains of old towers, a castle, and Romanesque Churches.

In the 6th-7th century Noli was residence of a religious community and a baptistery in the area of the Church of San Paragorio.
Noli took part in the first crusade in 1097 A.D. from which gained good political and commercial benefits. In 1192 A.D. reached the complete communal autonomy kept until 1797.
It was the smallest one under the five “Maritime Republics” and always supported Genoa, the town was also the birthplace of the 15th century famous explorer ‘Antonio da Noli’.

The Napoleonic war in 1797 put an end to Noli’s sovereignty.

Today Noli is a fishing village and charming seaside resort which attracts tourists and travelers.
I was born in October and in June of the same year I was already swimming in this very sea in Liguria, where I actually learned first to swim then to walk.

I spent in Noli, with my grandparents, all my holiday still my fourteens and I do have nice images of this place in my memory. I have nearly forgotten this place till I discover it again last September when I was in Liguria with my brand new Canon 450D.

The light for the pictures was really marvelous as it was just passed a storm, the photos come out just great in my opinion.

  • Taggia

The Italian region of Liguria is very interesting in particular the hinterland, rich in medieval villages almost forgotten. With a friend of mine we therefore decided to make a nice excursion discovering some, the first of these is Taggia. The weather was not the best but at least it did not rain. Once in Taggia [...]...

  • Triora

The third and last step of our excursion in Liguria was the medieval village of Triora . Triora is really in the middle of nowhere, in the heart of Liguria, far from the sea and far from Piedmont separated by high hills and mountains covered by a dense forest. Triora is located in the Argentina [...]...

  • Dolceacqua

The second stop of the trip in Liguria, after a quick sandwich, was Dolceacqua, a beautiful medieval village in the Nervia valley. The oldest part of Dolceacqua is dominated by the Castle of the Doria. The most modern part is developed on the opposite bank.     Dolceacqua apparently existed since Roman times, archaeological studies [...]...
