Venaria Reale

Venaria Reale is a former royal residence located in Venaria Reale, near Turin, in Piedmont, northern Italy.
It is one of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, included in the UNESCO Heritage List in 1997, and one of the largest royal residences in the world, comparable in size and structures to those of Versailles and Caserta.
Venaria Reale palace called also ‘La Reggia’ was designed and built from 1675 by Amedeo di Castellamonte, commissioned by duke Charles Emmanuel II, who needed a base for his hunting expeditions.

The name itself derives from Latin, “regia venatio”, meaning “royal hunt”.
During the Napoleonic domination, the whole complex were turned into barracks and the gardens destroyed to create a training ground.
Restoration works were begun, but most of the Reggia di Venaria Reale was open for tourism in 2007.

I was really really lucky and I visited Venaria Reale one early morning with an amazing light and with few visitors around.
The photos are just great in my opinion, I got pictures from inside the Venaria Reale, the land Art permanent exposition, the flowers, and some really high quality prospective images of the gardens, all was there just waiting for me and my Canon 450D.
