Maritime Alps, geology and photos
Maritime Alps are the south-western part of the Alps, doing my thesis as a research in petrography I spent several months and two summers on the so called ‘Argentera Massif’ where I surveyed and mapped an area of twenty-five square kilometers of this alpine area.
It was a fundamental experience in my life for several reasons.
I was basically alone, I needed to take care of logistic, food, rock samples, papers, my tent, planning my walks, photos.
Photos, basically images of rocks and mountains, were needed to complete the survey task but not really intended as art.
I had a good point and shoot camera, light and easy, nothing special of course but it did the job honestly.
Every night in my tent was relaxing and I not had fear as I was completely focused on the field work.
Sometimes I find myself thinking that actually I was really, really lucky at that time back in 1995.
Not only there was no digital camera but also no affordable mobile phones.
It was me the nature and no one else.
