Turin, parade of Alpini Corps 2011
The last day of the event in Turin was held the big parade where marched over 90,000 Alpini.
The parade lasted ten hours, and the event was felt even more this year because we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, and Turin was the first capital of Italy.
The people stand hours under the sun on a beautiful spring day to see them marching, applauding.
The banners you can see in the photos highlighted very well the spirit of the Alpini Corps, such as the absolute dedication to the people and to maintain a united Nation fighting division and selfishness.
The passage of “black feathers” in the center of the city was unforgettable.

The Taurinense brigade (means brigade from Turin) of Alpini Corps in 2003 was the first one to arrive, with 400 men, in Kabul with the task of protecting the access routes to the airport in the city.
From 2003 to April 4, 2011 the Alpini were constantly engaged in humanitarian missions in Afghanistan where they have been appreciated by all, achieving good results helping to protect the civilian population of that country.
They re-built schools, squares, delivered food and medicine, restore 15 km of irrigation canals and wells to make available drinking water to villages.
In the districts of Bakwa, Gulistan and Purchaman was rebuilt a girls’ school, a paved square and a bazaar, restored mosque and a medical clinic, and made wells for water.
Tears and applause where all over among people when the speaker read the names of the 22 alpine dead in missions.
