How and why

ArtphotoasiA is here to show and share with others my photography works and experiences. Very simple, very easy and I’m not going to sell images here. All is free for everyone accordingly with my copyright statement and term of service.
Let’s start saying that in my mind the connection between travels and photography has always been strong. I started with a camera that my mother lend to me during my first trip abroad, in England, I was fifteen years old.
Maybe is normal, maybe is strange, but I started to be serious in photography not in Italy where I was born, but traveling, and my first travel in Asia had a deep impact.
I have done my main photo works during my travels in Southeast Asia where I have discovered what I was always looking for inside my mind, images inside myself.
At the beginning the cultural impact, starting with the language, was huge but my instinct guided me through this experience. The photos have been shot in several countries in Southeast Asia starting with Thailand, then Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and i hope more will come soon.
It was probably the rice fields, green mountains, people’s smiles, dusty roads, hard raining during the monsoon season, spectacular tropical sea view, noisy motorbikes around, who knows, but after the initial shock I was finally at home”
I can’t explain rationally why, I just felt that I was in the right place, simply it was stronger than me.
I always got two things inside me: the sea and the love for an Asian lady, I don’t know why, but I know that is right, a life with a dream is the only one worth to be lived for, also in case the dream will not come true.
Following my will and my fate I started to travel in Southeast Asia often trying to spend there as much time as possible accordingly with jobs and vacations. My photos research, my willing for new images, for new amazing pictures was pushed by Southeast Asia itself to a next level where I got myself, without even realize that, not anymore a beginner.
Looking for new tools to fix what my eyes and mind were creating I started to be serious in that, photography was not anymore just a hobby.
I got the chance to find a job in Southeast Asia so in February 2003 I moved in Thailand where I spent 5 years. It was not just a nice dream as someone can imagine, regretfully life is a little bit more complicated than a nice book.
I’m now back in my hometown, Turin, in Italy, where I bought a Canon 450D and discovered a complex new world of pictures and images all around me. I have to say that the digital revolution has changed a lot my idea of photography and only now, after experience and completed jobs, I’m now discovering many nice opportunity all around me. I try to focus myself to appreciate usual things, most of all I want find new point of view of the reality, something special, in streets where I pass by every day.
