Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai
In Chiang Mai is very famous the “Loy Krathong” festival held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar.
In the western calendar this usually falls in November.
During the festival people prepare a krathong a small rafts made of bread to be sent do the river currents.
The reason for using bread for the krathongs is to protect the environment since having many rafts in the river can create a huge water pollution problem.
Finally bread will become food for fishes and other animals in the river.
Banana leaves is another… Continue reading
Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok
The Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand.
It is located in the historic center of Bangkok within the grounds of the Grand Palace. The construction of the temple started when King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I) moved the capital from Thonburi to Bangkok in 1787.
Unlike other temples it does not contain living quarters for monks. The main building is the central ubosoth, which houses the Emerald Buddha. In the Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok there are three main doors used to enter the temple, however only the King and Queen… Continue reading
First time in Chiang Mai
In 2000, during my first visit in Chiang Mai, I have definitely felt something really special there.
I have no idea why but I was and I will be linked to Chiang Mai forever.
My first time in Chiang Mai was in 2000 and I was fascinating from this nice and magic town.
As all the other photos of my trip in 2000 I had with me just a cheap point and shot camera bought in Pattaya.
The images of Chiang Mai could just give a fade idea of the real beauty.
Since 2000 the city has changed a lot,… Continue reading
Khon Khaen Songkran
I was in Khon Khaen with friends to join the annual Thai festival of middle April (the hottest month of the year) called Songkran.
Khon Kaen is located in the Khorat Plateau, in the central-northwestern area of Isaan The city is a regional center for education, financial institutions, government offices and transportation.
The city is also an industrial center, especially for the region’s silk trade, as well as an agricultural hub.
During this festival all the nation stop and the people spend time drinking beer, dancing, singing and playing with water.
People roam the streets with containers of water or… Continue reading
Hours in Bangkok
I spent nearly one year in a city distant a couple of hours from Bangkok, so all the weekends I was in Bangkok and I do can tell that the nightlife of the city is really amazing. After this first period of time I spent also several months inside the city itself in a cheap Chinese style mansion.
Bangkok is definitely a fascinating city but is not suitable for me, not for a long term living, as so much chaos, pollution, cars, the smell, the terrible temperature during all year made me escape. I have so many nice… Continue reading
Phitsanulok and Nan
After Chiang Rai, after Mae Sai we decided to move south, and my decision was to go south till the end of Thailand. I had just touched the most northern point of Thailand then my project was to achieve the most southern point.

Ko Samet
Ko Samet is a small tiny island with really white sand about 220 km. from Bangkok. There are really nice beaches and a lot of Thais coming here to relax during the week ends.
In July 2000, with a girl supposed to be the one of my dream, after my first 3 days in Thailand I jumped out from the small boat and felt the white sand of the beach under my feet. It was the beginning.
So many memories over there and so many things happened in my mind and soul that barely I’m aware off today.
After few… Continue reading
Back to Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya is really near to Saraburi but with the bus it took ages to be there. I was amazed when I discovered that actually Saraburi is an old village and that not more then 200 years ago a common danger traveling was to be killed by a tiger. I was working in a factory 25 km. far from Ayutthaya so I spent more then 10 months in such a place.
I can tell that the most common danger now is to be killed by a truck whatever you drive it does not matter if you drive a motorbike like me… Continue reading
Khao Yai National Park
I had the chance to visit Khao Yai, Thailand’s oldest and largest National Park, during my trip in 2003 while I was in Thailand trying to set my job there.
The place is marvelous, especially the waterfalls and the forest, but actually I did not see many animals, probably I was expecting more.
History of Khao Yai starts in 1902, about 30 families from the south if Khao Yai moved into the Khao Yai hills.
In 1962 Khao Yai became the 1st National Park in Thailand.
Tropical moist evergreen forest covers the central area of the Park. The… Continue reading
Pattaya
I was in Pattaya just after my trip in Samet in July 2000, I have been there totally a couple of time during my five years in Thailand but definitely is not a place where you can live.
The first time obviously I was curios and excited about a city like that but soon you realize its madness and nonsense. There is no much to say about, just an enormous brothel.
Pattaya was just a small fishing village until it was discovered as a beach resort by Bangkok residents in the 60s. Soldiers during the Vietnam war, including… Continue reading
