Once again facing Bangkok’s nightlife, but this time I was with my best friend, he came in Thailand to pay me a visit there after years.
Several times I dreamed to be there with him and have fun in the city that after years around Thailand I started to know quite well.
I wanted to show to him all of Thailand, and also the nightlife of Bangkok. The city offer enormous possibilities with tons of pubs, bar, restaurants and nightclubs.
In 2004 I spent 4 months consecutively there and in 2003 practically I was there every weekend. I remember… Continue reading
In Chiang Mai is very famous the “Loy Krathong” festival held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar.
In the western calendar this usually falls in November.
During the festival people prepare a krathong a small rafts made of bread to be sent do the river currents.
The reason for using bread for the krathongs is to protect the environment since having many rafts in the river can create a huge water pollution problem.
Finally bread will become food for fishes and other animals in the river.
Banana leaves is another… Continue reading
I was in Khon Khaen with friends to join the annual Thai festival of middle April (the hottest month of the year) called Songkran.
Khon Kaen is located in the Khorat Plateau, in the central-northwestern area of Isaan The city is a regional center for education, financial institutions, government offices and transportation.
The city is also an industrial center, especially for the region’s silk trade, as well as an agricultural hub.
During this festival all the nation stop and the people spend time drinking beer, dancing, singing and playing with water.
People roam the streets with containers of water or… Continue reading
Chiang Rai is smaller then Chiang Mai but it is expanding fast, and regretfully without control. I visited Chiang Rai several times starting from 2000 when I arrived there by boat along the river Kok from Tha Ton.
On this page you will find what I consider really some nice photos that I took in Chiang Rai with my glorious Canon EOS 300 along the road from Chiang Mai, were I lived, to Chiang Rai.
I was used to drive on that road or get a bus at least every three months as it lead also to MaeSai and to… Continue reading
Here you will find some photos I have done in Chiang Mai during my life there in several occasion.
It was quite a busy period of my life and actually I had really few times to follow up my photo works.
What a pity, it really seams to be that I need to travel in order to get inspiration and open my eyes.
King Mengrai founded the city of Chiang Mai (meaning “new city”) in A.D. 1296, and it succeeded Chiang Rai as capital of the Lanna kingdom.
To protect it against raids from Burma, the city was surrounded by… Continue reading
I have been in Pai a couple of times, and both of them I was amazed by the landscape, those mountains are really marvelous.
The first time I arrived via bus from Chiang Mai, the second on a motorbike trip. I arrived in Mae Hong Son at the end of a motorbike trip in December 2004.
I was already living in Chiang Mai and from there I followed the road to Mae Rim then turned on left and started to enjoy the mountain road that will take you to Pai first and to Mae Hong Son later.
Totally (with a… Continue reading
During my life in Chiang Mai I was able to find, since the beginning, an incredible apartment located in a condo in the north side of the city. The apartment was at floor number seven at ‘SilverSand Condo’ with an eight meter long window that allowed seeing all the view to Doi Suthep. Actually the whole wall was a glass!
Inside the apartment, there was also a kind of pool filled with water that made the ambient really magic. I just felt in love with that. There was just basic furniture so I started to buy something in order to… Continue reading
I spent nearly one year in a city distant a couple of hours from Bangkok, so all the weekends I was in Bangkok and I do can tell that the nightlife of the city is really amazing. After this first period of time I spent also several months inside the city itself in a cheap Chinese style mansion.
Bangkok is definitely a fascinating city but is not suitable for me, not for a long term living, as so much chaos, pollution, cars, the smell, the terrible temperature during all year made me escape. I have so many nice memories… Continue reading
I was with a friend in Korat, and I was so lucky to find the chance to visit Phimai a small archaeological complex near Buriram, a small Khmer outpost in what Thais call Isan, the eastern poorest part of Thailand.
The people here are more black and short sized compared to north Thais, more similar to Khmer, and there is quite a sort of racism behind that.
This temple is really a masterpiece of the Khmer art in Thailand.
Is not so difficult to find the way, from Khorat you can get a bus to Buriram and from Buriram some… Continue reading
Ayutthaya is really near to Saraburi but with the bus it took ages to be there. I was amazed when I discovered that actually Saraburi is an old village and that not more then 200 years ago a common danger traveling was to be killed by a tiger. I was working in a factory 25 km. far from Ayutthaya so I spent more then 10 months in such a place. I can tell that the most common danger now is to be killed by a truck whatever you drive it does not matter if you drive a motorbike like me… Continue reading
